Are device fees separate from the subscription?

Yes. Devices are a one‑time purchase (from $4 down to $0.70 each at volume), the dashboard subscription is monthly. You can also bring your own ESP boards and only pay for the dashboard plan.

Can I use KME without a subscription?

Yes for the firmware SDK and local MQTT control. The cloud dashboard, OTA, alerts, history, and integrations need a subscription — but you can self‑host on‑prem on the Enterprise plan.

Can I bring my own boards?

Absolutely. ESP32, ESP32‑C3, ESP32‑S3, ESP32‑C6, and ESP8266 are all supported. Flash via KME Config in your browser; the device fee only applies to KME‑manufactured hardware.

What happens if I exceed my device count?

Nothing breaks. We notify you and offer an upgrade — no surprise charges, no data loss, no devices going dark.

Is the platform open?

Yes. Every device speaks open MQTT 3.1.1/5. The REST API is documented and the firmware SDKs are open source on GitHub.

Do you offer on‑prem?

Yes — on Enterprise. Docker Compose, your hardware, your network, your data. We support air‑gapped factory deployments.

Can I switch plans later?

Anytime. Prorated up or down; devices, automations, and history come with you — no migration headaches.
